Withdrawal

For security reasons and to protect your interests, certain administrative instructions, such as withdrawals or transfers, require additional identity verification.
 
Please follow the steps below to verify your identity online:
 
  1. Download and register for “iAM Smart” (if you do not have an “iAM Smart account)
  2. Click here and select the “iAM Smart” button
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to log in to the eMPF Platform using “iAM Smart”

If you encounter any difficulties with online identity verification, you may visit our eMPF Service Centre for assistance.

Once the above steps are completed, we will proceed with processing your MPF withdrawal request.

Yes, you can find and submit the instruction to withdraw unclaimed benefits under “Action Items” on the top right-hand corner of the homepage if you have any unclaimed benefits.

You can submit the death claim request for the deceased member by providing the necessary information and supporting documents in the link.

Yes, the application for LSP/SP offsetting can still be submitted through the eMPF Platform. Please refer to the relevant User Guide for details.

Changes to the LSP/SP offsetting sequence may affect the subsidy amount under the Subsidy Scheme for Abolition of MPF Offsetting Arrangement. For details about the Subsidy Scheme, please visit Labour Department’s website.

After the implementation of the abolition of MPF offsetting arrangement, the maximum amount of LSP/SP (i.e., the sum of pre-transition and post-transition portions of LSP/SP) is still capped at HK$390,000. If an employee’s total LSP/SP exceeds HK$390,000, the amount in excess of the cap will be deducted from the post-transition portion. Under the MPF legislation, scheme members may only withdraw their MPF derived from mandatory contributions upon reaching the age of 65, unless they meet specific circumstances below:

  • early retirement after reaching age 60
  • permanent departure from Hong Kong
  • death
  • total incapacity
  • terminal illness
  • a small account balance of HK$5,000 or less

Under the MPF legislation, scheme members may only withdraw their tax-deductible voluntary contributions (TVC) upon reaching the age of 65, unless they meet specific circumstances below:

  • early retirement after reaching age 60
  • permanent departure from Hong Kong
  • death
  • total incapacity
  • terminal illness
  • a small account balance of HK$5,000 or less

You can submit your withdrawal request through the eMPF Mobile App or eMPF Web Portal.

For the eMPF Mobile App, log in then choose “My MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits” > “Withdrawal of Voluntary Contributions”.

For eMPF Web Portal, log in then choose “Manage MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits” > “Withdrawal of Voluntary Contributions”.

Alternatively, you may submit your request by post (P.O. Box 98929, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office), via email (forms@support.empf.org.hk), or in person at any of the eMPF Service Centres (click here for location details).

Yes, you can submit your withdrawal request using paper forms. However, it is highly recommended that you register for eMPF to enjoy a much better and easier MPF management experience.

You can register for eMPF online in just 3 simple steps:

  1. complete identity verification using “iAM Smart”
  2. provide your personal information
  3. set up your username and password

When you withdraw your MPF, you need to submit the withdrawal request through the eMPF Platform. The payment will be made by your trustee after the Platform has completed the withdrawal administrative procedures.

If the MPF scheme you wish to withdraw your MPF from has not yet onboarded the eMPF Platform, you will need to submit the withdrawal request to your trustee directly.

Under the MPF legislation, scheme members may apply early retirement and withdraw their MPF if they reach 60 years old, have ceased all employment and self-employment, and have made a statutory declaration that they have no intention of becoming employed or self-employed again.

You can submit your application to withdraw MPF benefits on the eMPF Mobile App or eMPF Web Portal by following the steps below.

eMPF Mobile App:

  1. Go to “My MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits”
  2. Click “Claim MPF Benefits” and then choose “Early Retirement” as the claim reason
  3. Select the MPF account you would like to withdraw benefits.

eMPF Web Portal:

  1. Go to “Manage MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits”
  2. Click “Claim MPF Benefits” and then choose “Early Retirement” as the claim reason
  3. Select the MPF account you would like to withdraw benefits.

Under the MPF legislation, scheme members must fulfil below requirements to apply for withdrawing MPF benefits of a small balance:

  1. have a balance of not more than HK$5,000 in only one MPF scheme;
  2. as at the date of application, at least 12 months must have elapsed since the last contribution date; and
  3. make a statutory declaration that they have no intention of becoming employed or self-employed again.

You can submit your application to withdraw MPF benefits of a small balance via the eMPF Mobile App or eMPF Web Portal by following the steps below.

eMPF Mobile App:

  1. Go to “My MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits”
  2. Click “Claim MPF Benefits” and then choose “Small Balance (HKD)” as the claim reason
  3. Select the MPF account you would like to withdraw benefits.

eMPF Web Portal:

  1. Go to “Manage MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits”
  2. Click “Claim MPF Benefits” and then choose “Small Balance (HKD)” as the claim reason
  3. Select the MPF account you would like to withdraw benefits.

You can submit the withdrawal request through the eMPF Platform. If you prefer using the eMPF Mobile App, log in and choose “My MPF” > “Withdraw Benefits”.

The eMPF Platform does not charge any handling fee for your withdrawal application.

However, MPF schemes may have different policies and arrangements for withdrawal by instalments. Before submitting an application, scheme members should contact their trustees to obtain more information.

If an employer fails to pay SP to an employee, the employee can make a SP offsetting request by submitting a completed "Notice of Termination for Long Service Payment/Severance Payment (LSP/SP) Offset Request" form (NOT) [download] to the eMPF Platform, the employee must provide the following information in the NOT:

  1. the last date of employment;
  2. the total SP amount the employee* is entitled to; and
  3. the employee’s signature, which must match the signature record maintained in the relevant member account

If there are no employer acknowledgement and agreement on the employee’s SP offsetting arrangement, the employee needs to provide the following supporting documents to prove the entitlement to the SP:

  1. Application form and claim form (Form 1 and Form 2) from the Labour Tribunal; and Award/Court order from the Labour Tribunal
    OR
  2. Application Form for Ex-gratia Payment from the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund (Form 1); and the payment notice on releasing the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund ("PWIF") (Form 8) issued by the Wage Protection Division of the Labour Department

*Please note that, with the implementation of the abolition of the MPF offsetting arrangement, if you were employed before 1 May 2025 and your last date of employment is on or after 1 May 2025, both the pre-transition portion and the post-transition portion of the SP must be provided in the NOT. The eMPF Platform will verify the SP amount (including pre- and post- transition portions) against the amount stated in the aforementioned supporting documents.
