The eMPF Platform Company Limited (eMPF Company) expressed grave concern over crime syndicates suspected of inducing MPF scheme members to use forged medical certificates to illegally apply for early MPF withdrawal on the grounds of terminal illness or total incapacity. eMPF Company will fully collaborate with the Police in its enforcement actions and calls on MPF scheme members to comply with the law.
A spokesperson for the eMPF Company said today (11 June) that the case was reported to the Police by the eMPF team earlier, after it has identified suspected forged medical certificates during regular vetting of early MPF withdrawal applications. eMPF team has strengthened the vetting process for all applications for early MPF withdrawal, particularly those submitted on the grounds of terminal illness or total incapacity, including verifying the authenticity of each medical certificate with relevant doctors to combat fraudulent activities.
The spokesperson added that if any doctors suspect that their identity has been impersonated to forge medical certificates for early MPF withdrawal claims, they should contact the eMPF team as soon as possible (Tel: 183 2622 / Email: enquiry@support.empf.org.hk). MPF scheme members should not be instigated by criminals to use any illegal means to apply for early MPF withdrawal. According to the Crimes Ordinance, any act of forging or using false documents constitutes a criminal offence and, upon conviction, may result in imprisonment for up to 14 years.
